Actually, I'd argue that if the average speed is in excess of the speed limit, one of two things has happened:

1. The street is poorly designed.
2. The speed limit is too low.

Do you have the ten percenter featuring the guy in a hoodie representing "youth crime"? I would appreciate getting a copy of that one. Thank you, Geoffrey

I will be honest in saying that when I first had to start biking on the road I was scared, but I've mostly gotten used to it now. A big issue I have is that a lot of bikers do not know what they're doing because you don't have to take a class in order to own and operate a bicycle.

I don't mind biking on the road too much, but I never bike downtown because the traffic is awful. As a biker, I can't match the pace of the other vehicles and there is no space for me to pull over so they may pass. On the other hand, biking on the sidewalk would be difficult because it's so easy to hit pedestrians during heavy traffic.

Here is why the Irvings have a paywall:

The Irvings, unlike many newspaper owners, still make a lot of money from the print product. They own the trees. They own the paper making machinery. They are less vulnerable to shifts in paper prices. Nor are they straddled by debt like some newspaper chains which took on too many assets with a view to recouping the money through advertising which failed to materialize due to the recession. As well, they invested heavily in new printing presses not that long ago and are desperate to recoup that money. Because of this, the Irvings have no interest in online news. They want people to buy the printed newspaper and that is why they are pricing the online version as they are. They have a monopoly in every city. If you want a local newspaper you have to buy an Irving paper.
While all this may seem illogical given the way technology and the Internet is changing the way many people access news, the Irvings don't care. They will reap every last penny from their print product until they can reap no more.
